Well it’s the first Critical Mass of the season this evening… I’ve never ridden in one although I do like the idea. However, I will not be riding in this one either, but if your interested you should show up at:
5:30pm at Phillips Square, Ste-Catherine @ Union
It’s DemoCampMontreal2 night at the SAT. The presenters look pretty interesting this time around, so I’d suggest signing up and swinging by the SAT at 6:30pm.
Like I said, no more than a short lunchtime run on the track. However, it felt better than Tues…
Total Time: 0:30
12:00 pm – YMCA Track
- run: 0:30 track run (ok pace)
These are two articles I found interesting in in Coolopolis this morning:
Scott at Midnight Poutine believes that Brave New Waves should not be allowed to pass quietly away. I for one agree, and think we should fill the blogosphere with it’s passing. So if your a blogger blog, and if your a reader then comment at any of the many.

I’m still not up to snuff. I felt a little ill on both the run and the swim last night. Today is going to be a nothing training day due to running on 3 hours sleep, and a previous agreement to do some work. I’m afraid tomorrow is going to be sparse as well (a lunchtime run)…
Total Time: 1:00
5:30 pm – YMCA Track and Swim
- run: 0:30 track run (ok pace)
- swim: 0:30 1250 (mixed, 750free, 500s and 250)
I found this over on Ella’s blog Cerrier. I hadn’t seen it before so I thought I’d repost it:
Ok I’ve lost it for pretty much this entire month. I’ve got to get back on track, but I’m faced with many distractions at the moment. Recent events have knocked training back a priority level, but I’ll find a way to manage everything…
Total Time: 0:30
12:00 pm – YMCA Swim
- swim: 0:30 1250 (mixed, 750free, 500s and 250)
Apparently on January 17, 2007 CBC Radio 2 announced that Brave New Waves would be removed it’s line up, and according to Justin at Metroblogging Montreal this is it’s final week. This represents the end of an era for me. I grew up listening to Brave New Waves… I first heard it when I was 14 and Augusta La Paix was the host… I listened to it throughout the Brent Bambury years, and continued listening to it well into Patti Schmidt’s run.
Since it aired on weeknights from midnight to 4 a.m I had many a rough and sleepy morning throughout high school. Really it had a bigger influence on my musical tastes, probably even my personality, than any other single media source. Every year I’d visit my father in Ontario (I grew up in Moncton) and be armed with lists of albums to be filled at Record Peddler in TO.
In University I’d written countless papers in all night sessions accompanied by Brave New Waves (and multiple pots of coffee). In recent years, the 9 to 5 years, I haven’t had the chance to tune in too often, but I’m very sad to hear of it’s passing. I almost think of it as the passing of an beloved institution… The air waves will simply not be the same
